Simply wholesome diorama wedge!

Writer: Linnea LandgrenLinnea Landgren

A cozy, low commitment craft for those of you who love world building or interior design or both!

I recommend spending 30 minutes to an hour on this activity.

Grab some colored pencils, a sturdy piece of paper and some scissors and you're good to go. This wedge shaped diorama can be anything you want. A cozy living room, a roomy bathroom, a plant-covered balcony... or whatever space you can dream up!

You can even add more textured details by incorporating felt, crafting foam or extra paper.

Materials needed:

Sturdy paper (card stock or construction paper) – one sheet per person

Colored pencils

Pens

Scissors

Glue

Optional add-ons:

Colorful paper

Felt

Crafting foam

Pipe cleaners

Any materials you want to add!

Set-up:

  1. Cut your paper into a square shape. (It's recommended to fold your sturdy piece of paper diagonally so that the edges are flush and then cutting off the excess.)

  2. Fold your square in both diagonal directions and press down on the fold so that there is a crisp crease.

  3. Cut along the crease from just ONE corner into the center of the paper.

  4. Slide one of the triangles below the other so that it is now able to stand on its own. Don't glue at this point, as it will make it hard to add details.

Directions:

  1. Look at the blank canvas, make mental note of which direction you will need to draw on each panel so that it's facing the right direction when assembled.

  2. If useful to you, mark the triangle that you slid underneath (that will not be visible when assembled) with an X, so you remember not to draw on it.

  3. Decide what type of room you want to make (living room, kitchen, bathroom, balcony, etc?) Use a scrap paper to sketch ideas if this helps!

  4. Begin to add details to your diorama, flattening and raising the triangles up as needed to make sure it's looking the way you intended.

  5. Add any additonal materials that you want using glue (shelves, chairs, curtains, plants, etc.)

  6. Glue the bottom triangle so that the diorama stands up.

  7. Show your cool new artwork to your pals!
